Arlington High School
Arlington Community Education offers enrichment programs during school vacations, designed to appeal to kids of many interests with courses taught by experienced classroom teachers.
- Half-day, full-day options, mix-and-match morning and afternoon sessions
- Small class sizes
- Open to students in grades K-8 from Arlington and surrounding communities
- A supervised lunch period (including recess) is automatically included for students taking both a morning and an afternoon class. Staff will escort students to and from classes and lunch. Half-day students can sign up for lunch for $10 per day.
Who Can Enroll?
Both residents of Arlington and non-residents are welcome to enroll in our classes at the same low tuition. Registration opens as soon as the classes are posted online and continues until the first meeting of any class, as space permits. Under-enrolled classes are cancelled, so register early.

There is NO EARLY DROP-OFF. Students will be allowed in the building 5 minutes prior to the start of each class.
These are posted in the Main Lobby of Arlington High School and staff will be there to help.
Doors open at 8:55; no early drop-off. Each class will have a gathering spot in the lobby. On the first day, all students must be escorted to their meeting spot. For the remainder of the week, children in grades 3 and up may check themselves in each day.
Find your child’s class meeting place in the AHS lobby and wait there for the teacher to collect students and check them in. There is no after care. The program ends at 4:00 pm.
Students attending classes all day will have lunch (bring your own) and free-play 12:00 – 1:00 pm each day. Half-day students have the option of staying for lunch at $10/day. Students are supervised during the lunch hour and brought to their afternoon classrooms. Students must bring their own nut-free lunch; the cafeteria is closed.
If you have not authorized your child to walk home alone (on registration form), meet your child in the lobby. You or an authorized adult are required to sign your child in and out daily and provide your FAMILY CODE, which is the last four digits of your primary phone plus student’s last name. Please share this code with anyone you authorize to pick up your child. Children MUST be picked up by 12:00 pm or 4:00 pm each day, depending on your schedule. Delays in pick-up will result in a charge of $1/minute payable on the spot to the person waiting with your child.
Late or Absent
If your child will be absent or late, please let us know prior to 8:45 am. We take attendance to make sure that all children in the program are accounted for, so it is important that we know if your child will be absent. What to wear
Children should wear comfortable, casual clothes and shoes.
What to bring
All items brought to camp should be clearly marked with your child’s name; we cannot be responsible for lost items. Each day, children must bring a snack and water bottle. Children remaining for lunch must also bring a nut-free lunch and snack plus a water bottle.
VacationFun! is an equal access programs. We do not discriminate against children with disabilities. We encourage parents to disclose any medical or disability-related needs on your child’s registration form. If you believe your child requires a specific reasonable accommodation for medical or disability-related needs, please contact our office to discuss your child’s needs. Please note that VacationFun! is not a school-sponsored special education programs so children are not entitled to the same IEP services and accommodations during programming.
Children who attend VacationFun! should be able to participate in group activities with teacher supervision and treat fellow students and staff with respect. If a child is unable to do so, the teacher or director will contact parents to discuss appropriate next steps.
ACE occasionally takes photos of classes for use in catalogs, advertising and other promotional materials. If you do not wish to have your child photographed by ACE, please notify the office before your child’s program begins.
You are officially enrolled as soon as we receive your registration form and payment. If you provide us with your email address, you will receive a confirmation.
A $6 registration fee is charged once per person per term.
How Credit Card Charges Work
Credit card charges appear on statements as charges from “Arlington Community Education”.
- Full refunds are given when a class is cancelled due to low enrollment OR the course requested is already full.
- Withdrawals for classes must be made via email to CommunityEd@Arlington.k12.ma.us and received before February 1 for February VacationFun! and before April 1 for April VacationFun!. Students will receive a refund minus a $25 processing fee per child per class.
- No other refunds will be granted for classes missed or dropped.
Snow & Weather
If we are forced to cancel or delay February classes, we will notify you via email and post details on our website. We are unable to phone families individually so please make note of our web address: ArlingtonCommunityEd.org. You will be given a class credit for future use for the time missed. No makeup classes will be scheduled; no refunds will be granted.
Partial tuition assistance is available for APS students who receive free and reduced lunch. Please contact Food Services to obtain your official letter before contacting us. Registration must be done over the phone or in person. Please call 781-316-3568 for more information.
